Borgunto Artisanal Fig Jam – A Traditional Tuscan Dessert
Our jam is made from ripe figs harvested by hand in the Arezzo countryside, selected at the perfect level of sweetness. Slowly cooked at a low temperature, it preserves the fruit's natural amber color and intense aroma, without preservatives or thickeners. Just figs and sugar for a velvety texture, perfect for enhancing cheeses, breakfasts, and Tuscan platters.
Origin and craftsmanship
Hand-picked Arezzo figs
The figs come from the farms in the Borgunto area, harvested between August and September when they reach full ripeness. Each fruit is individually selected to ensure firm flesh, natural sweetness, and consistent flavor.
Slow cooking and pure ingredients
Processing takes place in traditional, temperature-controlled boilers. This method preserves the fruit's volatile compounds, color, and texture, eliminating the need for artificial thickeners or preservatives. The result is a dense, velvety jam with an authentic flavor.
How to pair it and when to serve it
Pairings that enhance the taste
The sweet contrast of figs enhances aged cheeses like Pecorino Toscano DOP, 24-month Parmigiano Reggiano, and spicy Gorgonzola. It's also ideal on toast with butter for breakfast, as a filling for tarts, or to accompany quality cured meats on a traditional platter.
50g jar: practical and gourmet gift
The 50g format is designed for everyday consumption and as a food and wine gift. Elegant, light, and easy to include in baskets, tastings, or wine and cheese pairings, it brings a piece of Tuscany to the table without waste.
