What is the Giostra del Saracino?

The Giostra del Saracino is a spectacular medieval reenactment that has its roots in the 13th century.
The knights of the districts of Arezzo – Porta Crucifera, Porta del Foro, Porta Sant’Andrea and Porta Santo Spirito – challenge each other by galloping against the Buratto, a rotating puppet that represents the Saracen enemy.
