The Friendly Versilia project was born in 1998 thanks to the initiative of Arcigay Pride Pisa, with the aim of promoting tourism for the LGBTQ+ community in Versilia, with particular attention to Viareggio and Torre del Lago Puccini. Today, Friendly Versilia represents the most important LGBTQ+ tourism phenomenon in Italy, attracting thousands of visitors every year in search of relaxation, fun, and inclusion.

One of the most iconic LGBTQ+ nightlife hotspots in Torre del Lago is Mamamia, a historic nightclub and disco pub specializing in live events and music for all tastes. Located on the beachfront, Mamamia is much more than a nightclub: it also offers a fully equipped beach, Mama Beach, one of the most famous gay beaches in Italy. LGBTQ+ Events in Torre del Lago: Miss Drag Queen Italy

Every year, Torre del Lago hosts Miss Drag Queen Italia, one of the most anticipated LGBTQ+ events in Italy. Founded in 2003, the competition features the best drag queens selected throughout Italy through regional competitions. The grand finale takes place in the second half of July, with a jury of experts and the public choosing the winner. The event is also attended by prominent LGBTQ+ figures, such as Platinette.
